On October 18th GERAD’s soccer team, GCC, ended the regular season with a victory 7-3 against Super Seven, their big rivals of the previous season. With this last victory GCC ended in first position of the league with a perfect score of five victories in the five games of the regular season.

Diane Riopel, professor at École Polytechnique, GERAD member as well as co-founder and co-holder of the Marianne-Mareschal Chair promoting engineering to women, was Louis Lemieux's guest, this past November 7, at the RDI matin week-end show. She spoke of the Journées du Savoir and did the Saturday's press review.
Michèle Breton, member of GERAD and a Full Professor with the Department of Management Sciences, has been elected a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) and will be welcomed into this select group at the induction and awards ceremony on November 28.
The Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics honorific designation is conferred on members distinguished for their outstanding contributions to the fields of applied mathematics and computational science.

Professor Gilbert Laporte has received the Robert Herman Lifetime Achievement Award in Transportation Science. The award presentation took place last October 12, at the annual congress of INFORMS, in San Diego.
Professor Michel Perrier has received the 2009 D.G. Fisher Award of the Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering. The award presentation took place last August 25, at the 8th World Congress of Chemical Engineering, in Montreal.
