2015 AMQ Mathematical Camp

May 31 - June 6, 2015

The mathematical Camp is an activity sponsored by the Mathematical Association of Quebec (AMQ) and Canadian Mathematical Society in order to bring together talented students in mathematics with math researchers.

The 2015 AMQ camp will be held at the University of Montreal from May 31 to June 6, 2015, from Sunday evening to Saturday afternoon. Campers will be housed in the homes of the University of Montreal.

The FRQNT renewed the GERAD Strategic Cluster grant for the next six years, from 2015 to 2021. Guy Desaulniers, director of GERAD, and Jean-Philippe Waaub, who led the project, would like to highlight the excellent work of everyone involved in the process.

At the scholarship ceremony of the HEC Montréal Offices of the Program Director, on April 8, 2015, Jean-Bertrand Gauthier, PhD student with Professor Jacques Desrosiers, and Elnaz Kanani Kuchesfehani, PhD student with Professor Georges Zaccour, have won two of the three Esdras-Minville Awards for one of their articles. This award comes with a $3,000 scholarship.

On April 14th, the GERAD executive board officially announced Guy Desaulniers (Polytechnique Montréal) as director of the GERAD from May 1st, 2015 to April 30th 2019.

On March 30, twelve experts, including François Bouffard, from McGill University and GERAD member, met to discuss their vision for the future of energy, present proposals and build consensus. Two topics have been discussed: 1) bioenergy and heat sources (including solar heat and geothermal energy), 2) electricity (including wind energy).
