  • Alice Wu, M.Sc. student, cosupervised by François Soumis and Issmail El Hallaoui.

On May 4th, Samuel Rosat and Amir Ardestani Jaafari won the 2016 GERAD Best Thesis Competition.

Samuel Rosat for his thesis titled "Méthodes pour favoriser l'intégralité de l'amélioration dans le simplexe en nombres entiers - Application aux rotations d'équipages aériens". He was supervised by François Soumis and Issmail El Hallaoui at Polytechnique Montréal.

Amir Ardestani Jaafari for his thesis titled "Linearized robust counterparts of location and inventory management problems". He was supervised by Erick Delage at HEC Montréal.

Mr. Samuel Rosat receives the Best Thesis Award from the Department of Mathematics and Industrial Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal, and the Roger-A. Blais Award of $2,000 for his thesis titled: "Méthodes pour favoriser l'intégralité de l'amélioration dans le simplexe en nombres entiers - Application aux rotations d'équipages aériens". The work of Mr. Rosat was supervised by Professors François Soumis and Issmail El Hallaoui from the Department of Mathematics and Industrial Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal.

Title: Méthodes pour favoriser l’intégralité de l’amélioration dans le simplexe en nombres entiers. Application aux rotations d’équipages aériens

François Soumis is the founder of the company AD OPT and the inventor of the software GENCOL on planning of tasks and schedules of major transportation networks by plane, bus and train. He contributed to the development of industrial cluster in operational research in Quebec.

All our congratulations go to Samuel Rosat, Ph.D. student at Polytechnique Montréal directed by François Soumis and Issmail El Hallaoui, who obtained a scholarship for an international internship in Italy for a period of six months. This scholarship is awarded by the FRQNT.
