The use of operations research holds potential to improve and evaluate decision-making in the food system, proposing new decision pathways that can contribute to a sustainable transformation of the current system. The specific requirements of food and agricultural products, on the other hand, give rise to decision problems that pose new challenges from an OR perspective. This seminar aims to explore different decision aspects in the context of the food system, focusing in particular on sustainable choices and the role of quality considerations. Following from this, the seminar will elaborate on a specific OR problem linked to integrated logistics planning, by presenting the Production Routing Problem for perishable products.
