I am a full professor at Department of Building, Civil, and Environmental Engineering at Concordia University directing the Sustainable Energy & Infrastructure Systems Engineering (SEISE) lab. Before joining Concordia, I worked at University College London (UCL) as a faculty member (2011-2014), at Yale University as a research scientist (2009-2011), and at GERAD research group as a postdoctoral fellow (2007-2009). I hold a PhD in Environmental Systems Engineering and MASc and BASc in Industrial Engineering. I am a systems engineer with deep interest in investigating the emerging challenges in design and operation of engineered (built) systems (facilities, infrastructure, and buildings) and their interactions with and impact on the environment and society from risk, resilience, and reliability perspectives. I have adopted an interdisciplinary approach in research that stems from my background in systems modeling and analysis and my research activities in various domains involving industry and public sector including energy systems (generation, transmission, and distribution), transportation systems (service delivery and asset management) and healthcare systems (service and facilities management). My research has explored development of optimization, game theoretic, and simulation approaches in formulating design, planning, operation and end of life decisions for engineered systems. I regard my previous experience at GERAD, as a postdoctoral fellow, and my current membership at GERAD as highly impactful in my career and in shaping my research trajectories. The workshops, seminars and training events including industrial problem solving workshops and optimization days are invaluable opportunities to communicate new ideas and ignite lasting research collaborations with some leading researchers in decision analysis domain. Access to the software and modeling platforms developed at GERAD as well as diverse expertise of members have been incremental in elevating my research. As a member, I myself aim at devoting my time and resources to serve GERAD, contributing to future events, training, and activities organized by GERAD, and promoting its mandates as a world-class research and training center.
