This report proposes some approximate analytical models allowing the evaluation of the average service time for a user of a door-to-door transportation system. The origins and destinations of the trips are assumed to be distributed uniformly and independently over a rectangular service area. The transportation system analyzed is demand-responsive and allows immediate treatment of the trip requests. Applications to specialized door-to-door transportation services offered to handicapped persons are discussed.
