In 2015, Patrick Munroe obtained a PhD in mathematics from McGill University. During his doctoral studies, he worked on different problems in the fields of analysis and spectral geometry under the supervision of Professor Dmitry Jakobson from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. More specifically, Patrick investigated the distribution of generalized eigenfunctions of the Laplacian on some hyperbolic manifolds. In particular, he proved in his thesis a general formula describing all the moments of the Eisenstein Series at high energy for a family of hyperbolic manifolds of infinite volume. After his PhD, Patrick left temporarily academia to work in industry. Over a period of about two years, he held different positions related to computer science and software development. It is in december 2017 that he joined GERAD as a postdoctoral fellow. Under the supervision of Professors IIssmail El Hallaoui and François Soumis, he works on a project in the field of air cargo management in partnership with Air Canada. His research focuses more specifically on developing new methods for demand forecasting and real-time optimization of freight transportation.
