Diane Riopel

On April 18, 2016, at the Soirée de l’excellence en genie 2016 engineering awards ceremony, Diane Riopel, professor at Polytechnique Montréal, received two awards: the Mérite du CIQ prize given by the Quebec Interprofessional Council (Conseil interprofessionnel du Québec—CIQ), and the Prix du Président au Bénévolat given by Quebec’s order of engineers. These two awards recognize Diane Riopel’s work with engineers, particularly in the area of recognition by the order for diploma equivalencies and exams.

On the recommendation of the OIQ Executive Committee, Professor Diane Riopel was awarded, at the Gala de l'excellence 2013, the title of Fellow by Engineers Canada, a privilege reserved for those who have made a remarkable contribution to the engineering profession. Ms. Riopel received the honour for, among other achievements, her support for women in engineering. As a true pioneer in the profession, Ms. Riopel has worked in the Department of Mathematics and Industrial Engineering at Polytechnique since 1978.

Diane Riopel, Department of Mathematical and Industrial Engineering, École Polytechnique de Montréal, and GERAD member, has just published with Clément Croteau, linguist-terminologist at the Office québécois de la langue française, a “Dictionnaire illustré des activités de l’entreprise” at the Presses Internationales Polytechnique. The dictionary contains the essential terminology for an effective communication at all levels in a business.
