3-Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition

The 3MT Competition is not only a chance to develop your presentation skills, but also to:

• Receive valuable feedback to improve your communication skills
About the Competition
The 3-Minute Thesis is an internationally recognized research communication competition that challenges participants to present their thesis or dissertation research in 180 seconds. Participants may use one static PowerPoint slide (optional) to support their presentation. The presentations will be evaluated by a jury, and GERAD will award one prize of 300$ or 500$ (depending on the number of presentations).

• Your full name and program of study
• Presentation title
• Preferred presentation language (English or French)
Competition Guidelines
Presentation Duration: Maximum 3 minutes (180 seconds)
Visual Aid: One static PowerPoint slide (optional; no animations or videos)
Additional Materials: No props or additional materials permitted
Evaluation Criteria: Presentations will be assessed 1) Public speaking skills and engagement; 2) Ability to communicate complex ideas in simple terms; 3) Structure of the presentation and two “coup de coeur” points left to the discretion of the jury members.
