Algorithmic Complexity of a Multi-objective Supplyline Scheduling Problem

In a supplyline, the objective functions of the actors may be conflicting. We show here that the multi-objective consisting in simultaneously optimizing the objectives of the producer (minimize the sum of completion times) and that of the distributor (minimize the number of late jobs) is strongly NP-hard.

A Multi-Stage Stochastic Programming Approach for Production Planning in an Uncertain Manufacturing Environment

We address a production planning problem under the uncertainty in the quality of raw materials and consequently in processes yields, as well as in products demands. The uncertain parameters are modeled separately and then integrated as a hybrid scenario tree. A multi-stage stochastic program is proposed to address the problem. The proposed approach is applied for sawmill production planning.

Make-to-order (MTO) systems are emerging business strategies in managing supply chains, characterized by high product variety, highly variable customer demand, short product life cycle. Motivated by the strategic importance of response time, we study the problem of demand allocation and capacity planning in the design of MTO supply chains for segmented markets with service-level differentiated customers.
