Optimization and ACCPM: past, present and FUTURE
Jean-Louis Goffin – Professeur émérite, Département de mathématiques et statistique, Université McGill, Canada
Optimization went through a revolution in 1984; the shock then is still reverberating today, and is awe inspiring. Money (big) is being made by some software writers, and they earned it, "the old fashioned way". Can ACCPM (the Analytic Center Cutting Plane Method) compete with software companies that have seventy doctoral graduates working for them.
My answer, which may not be shared by everyone, is a resounding enthusiastic yes. This talk will try to explain why.
