Full Professor Gilbert Laporte was awarded an honorary doctorate from the Université de Liège, Belgium, in recognition of the quality of his work. The insignia were conferred on behalf of His Majesty the King of the Belgians and of the Government of the French Community in Belgium, during a ceremony in Liège on March 24.
Full Professor Gilbert Laporte has been proclaimed the world’s most productive and influential author in operations research and management science by Omega – The International Journal of Management Science.
His 299 publications and 7,486 citations in specialized journals in these two fields earned him his first place in this ranking drawn up in co-operation with the Web of Science (WoS) database.
The award was presented by Maryse Lassonde, scientific director of the FRQNT, during the FRQNT Journée de la recherche held at École de technologie supérieure.
The Prix d'excellence FRQNT, in the amount of $10,000, recognizes the outstanding contributions of university or college researchers in the areas of natural sciences, mathematics and engineering, their international reputation and the benefits of their research for Québec.
