The NOMAD software ranked 3rd in an optimization competition

Christophe Tribes and the NOMAD software ranks honourably at the BBComp blackbox optimization competition held during the GECCO 2016 conference.

BBComp is an original competition in the optimization field during which the participants can submit series of black-box evaluations without knowing the structure and expression of objective functions. Up to fifteen participants competed in five categories (one, two or three objectives and varying evaluations budget) on optimisation problems having from 2 to 64 variables with no constraints other than boundaries. NOMAD and the Bi-Mads algorithm standed out with a third position obtained during the bi-objective competition.

NOMAD is developped at Gerad by Charles Audet, Sébastien Le Digabel and Christophe Tribes from Polytechnique Montréal.
