Polytechnique students stand out in the 4th contest Jeux Mathématiques

Students from the Combinatorial Optimization (MTH6311) class won first place at the 4th contest Jeux Mathématiques.

Supervised by Sebastien Le Digabel, assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics and Industrial Engineering, seven students participated in the contest Jeux mathématiques and won first place. These games, organized by the Fédération Française des Jeux Mathématiques, Société de Calcul Mathématique SA and Fire Brigade of Paris, is to solve a social problem.

In the next few days, they will receive a grant of 200 Euros.

For the 2012-2013 edition, the problem to solve from the competition was the effective fight against fires in Siberia. More exactly, the students had to provide decision analysis techniques to the governments to distribute the resources and means of control to fight against the fire.

Our most sincere congratulations to Nadir Amaioua, Georges Baydoun, Romain Montagné, Dominique Cartier, Frédéric Quesnel, Koukla Azeuli-Nkamegni and Abderrazak Moutassim.
