Banafsheh Asadi is currently a postdoctoral researcher working with Professor Maxime Cohen (GERAD & McGill university) and Professor Derek Nowrouzezahrai (Mila & McGill university). She obtained a PhD in the field of Information Studies under the supervision of Professor Catherine Guastavino. Her PhD thesis was focused on increasing the scalability of topical indexing for images and developing a system to organize low-pixel level quality images based on an ontology. Her research interests lie in applied machine learning and she is particularly interested in using novel natural language processing (NLP) techniques to tackle multi-disciplinary research problems in healthcare data analytics, multi-modal information retrieval, informetrics and knowledge organization. The focus of her current postdoc project, in partnership with ELNA medical group, is to implement machine-learning-enabled operations and data-driven solutions that can enhance clinical productivity.
