Optimization of the Accumulating Priority Queue with an Application to Emergency Department Service Targets
Richard J. Caron – University of Windsor, Canada
This talk will begin with a brief overview of recent work by Stanford et al on waiting time distributions in the accumulating priority queue. The application to service delivery in emergency departments will be developed and a model will be developed with six parameters. The parameters will be the initial priority assignments and the rate of priority accumulation for three different patient classes. A probabilistic hit and run algorithm will be presented within a simulation framework to find optimal values of the parameters.
This seminar is organized jointly with the Montreal section of CORS and financially supported by the CORS Traveling Speakers Program.
