Evolutionary game theory: ESS, convergence stability, and NIS

Joe Apaloo

Essentially three related stability concepts underlie the theory for predicting the outcomes of natural selection: ESS, convergence stability and NIS. The explicit consideration of population dynamics and strategy dynamics permits a clear appreciation for each stability concept. We will consider both one dimensional and multi-dimensional strategic evolutionary models, and point to the fact that the theory for multi-dimensional evolutionary games is far from complete.
