Experimental design case studies typically document successful applications of the technique. Successful case studies are valuable in broadening the perspective of the industrial experimenter and are useful in teaching. In this conversation we explore, through the use of case studies, the lessons that can be learned from cases which were not successful or where problems encountered. All data have been disguised to protect proprietary interests without compromising the learning value of the case.
